Hope, Reflection, and Connection – Early Years Professional Development

On Tuesday, 29th January, the Ambrose Early Years team gathered for a day of professional development, centered around the theme of HopeReflection, and Connection.

The team reflected on Hope as a driving force of optimism and possibility, forming the foundation of early childhood education and care work and the ongoing development as professionals. Connection was emphasised as the cornerstone of effective learning and development, enabling children and adults alike to feel safe, empowered, and inspired to engage deeply in meaningful learning experiences. Reflection was discussed as not just a practice; but a cornerstone of excellence in early childhood education, a forward-looking process that shapes the way we work, ensuring continuous improvement and the adoption of practices that benefit the children, families, and communities.

Guided by Dr. Red Ruby Scarlet – an early childhood teacher-researcher, consultant, artist and academic – educators had the opportunity to reflect on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), documentation, and the significance of curiosity in fostering confident and creative young minds.

The afternoon featured some lively hands-on activities supported by Chatterbox Speech Therapy which deepened educators understanding of neurodiversity while exploring strategies to help children reach their full potential and be present with them in every moment.

The day was a wonderful opportunity for the team to connect with each other while acknowledging and celebrating the dedication, achievements, and milestones of the past year, with many awards being presented. Through connections and reflections, the Early Learning team documented their hopes for 2025 and how they look forward to further supporting the children, families, and educators of Ambrose.

Jo Tapley, Senior Manager Early Years Education, encapsulated the spirit of the day, stating,

"We are united by our shared commitment to creating a brighter, more hopeful future for the children and families we serve, as well as for our own professional growth. Together, let’s continue to inspire hope, strengthen connections, and reflect on how we can shape a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive.”
